Glimmingehus is a medieval castle in Simrishamn Municipality, Scania, in southern Sweden, and is considered the best preserved medieval stronghold in Scandinavia. Built between 1499 and 1506, when Scania was part of Denmark, it is constructed of sandstone and designed by Adam van Düren. Its defences include parapets, murder-holes for pouring boiling pitch on attackers, moats and drawbridges, and its lower walls are 2.4 metres thick.
