Government House is the official residence of the governor of Victoria, set in Kings Domain in Melbourne beside the Royal Botanic Gardens. Designed by William Wardell in the Italianate style and partly modelled on Queen Victoria's Osborne House, to which it bears a strong resemblance, it opened in 1876. From 1901 to 1930 it also served as the official residence of Australia's governor-general. It is listed on the Victorian Heritage Register.
