Green Point Lighthouse stands on Mouille Point in the City of Cape Town, South Africa, and is an operational lighthouse and provincial heritage site. First lit on 12 April 1824, it was the first solid lighthouse structure on the South African coast and the country's oldest operational lighthouse. Acting Governor Sir Rufane Shaw Donkin commissioned it, and German architect Herman Shutte designed it. It was expanded to its present height of 16 m in 1865.
