The Guged Caravanserai, also known as the Gouged stronghold, stands in the city of Gouged, about 5 km north of Golpayegan in Iran. Built of adobe and mud and roughly 11 metres high, it served as a caravanserai in peacetime and as a fortified castle during wars or bandit attacks. It is listed as Iranian National Heritage and is one of the largest adobe and mud structures in the country. Today it operates as a traditional three-star hotel.
