Hafte Tir Square is a central public space in Tehran's District 6 business district, designed in the Pahlavi architectural style. Originally named 25th Shahrivar Square by the pre-revolutionary Pahlavi government, it was formally renamed Hafte Tir (meaning "seventh of Tir" in the Persian calendar) following the Iranian Revolution in 1979, specifically after a major bombing on June 28, 1981, that destroyed the headquarters of the Iran Islamic Republic Party and killed seventy-three leading officials, including Chief Justice Ayatollah Mohammad Beheshti.
