Hale Hall is a Jacobethan-style historic building on the Ohio State University campus in Columbus, designed by architect George S. Mills and constructed between 1909 and 1911. Originally built as the Ohio Union—the fourth student union in the United States and the first at a state university—it was replaced by a newer facility in 1951 and subsequently remodeled to house student services. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, one of only four structures on campus to receive this designation. From 1989 to 2020, it served as the Frank W. Hale Jr. Black Cultural Center, named after the university's former vice provost for Diversity and Inclusion, providing a vital gathering space for Black students before being converted to classroom use during the COVID-19 pandemic.
