The Hall of Justice is a Beaux-Arts building at 211 W. Temple Street in the Civic Center district of downtown Los Angeles, occupying the southern two-thirds of its block. Completed in 1925 by the Allied Architects Association, a coalition of Los Angeles architects founded in 1921 to design public buildings, it stood alongside Los Angeles City Hall as one of the first two large buildings in the area's transformation into a Civic Center. It housed county courts, the coroner, the sheriff, and the district attorney, and was for many years the primary county jail.
