Hamburg City Hall (Hamburger Rathaus) stands on the Rathausmarkt square in the Altstadt quarter of Hamburg-Mitte, near the Binnenalster lake and the central station. Built from 1886 to 1897 in the Renaissance Revival style by Wilhelm Emil Meerwein, Bernhard Hanssen and Martin Haller, it is 112 metres tall. It is the seat of Hamburg's government and state parliament, still housing the office of the First Mayor and the chambers of the Parliament and Senate, and it is a heritage monument.
