Hampton Plantation is a historic plantation house north of McClellanville, Charleston County, South Carolina, now operated as a state historic site. Established in 1735, its wood-frame main house is one of the state's finest Georgian plantation houses and exhibits one of the earliest known temple fronts in American domestic architecture. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970. The plantation was a prosperous rice estate that held hundreds of enslaved people, forced to grow the rice against their will.
