The Heidelsburg, also known as the Bunenstein, is a fortified site in the western Palatine Forest of Rhineland-Palatinate whose origins extend back at least to Roman times. Now a designated cultural monument, the castle survives only in fragmentary form: two gates with their attendant steps, sections of castle walls, and a cistern remain from its medieval occupation, testament to centuries of decay and loss.
