Hermitage Castle is a semi-ruined castle in the Scottish Borders, standing in the remote valley of the Hermitage Water in Liddesdale, Roxburghshire. Dating from 1240, it is a scheduled monument under the care of Historic Scotland. Its reputation, drawn from both its history and its appearance, makes it one of the most sinister and atmospheric castles in Scotland.
