Herstmonceux Castle stands near Herstmonceux in East Sussex, England, and is one of the oldest significant brick buildings still standing in the country. Its bricks were made from local clay by builders from Flanders, making it one of the first buildings in England to use the material on this scale. Construction began under Sir Roger Fiennes and was continued after his death in 1449 by his son, Lord Dacre. It is a Grade I listed building and a scheduled monument.
