Constructed in 1936 as a Works Progress Administration project, the Heslar Naval Armory stands on the shore of White River in Indianapolis, Indiana. Designed by architect Ben H. Bacon in Art Moderne style, the facility originally served as the Indianapolis Naval Reserve Armory, housing Naval Operations Support Center Indianapolis, Marine Corps Reserve Center Indianapolis, Naval Recruiting Station Indianapolis, and the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps Cruiser Indianapolis Division. State-owned and managed by the Indiana State Armory Board, the building was leased to the federal government for use by Navy and Marine Corps Reserve units until 2015. In 2018, following a $10 million renovation, the armory was repurposed as Riverside High School, which adopted the Argonauts as its mascot to honor the building's naval heritage.
