Hildesheim Cathedral, officially the Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary, is a medieval Catholic cathedral in the city centre of Hildesheim, Lower Saxony, Germany, and the seat of the Diocese of Hildesheim. Built between 1010 and 1020 in the Romanesque style, it has a symmetrical plan with two apses characteristic of Ottonian Romanesque architecture in Old Saxony. Destroyed in an air raid on 22 March 1945, it was rebuilt from 1950 to 1960. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985.
