Located in what is now Ōgaki, Gifu, in Japan's Chubu region, the Hiruiōzuka Kofun is a zenpō-kōen-fun—a keyhole-shaped burial mound characteristic of ancient Japanese mortuary architecture. Designated a National Historic Site of Japan in 2000, the mound exemplifies the monumental earthwork tradition of Japan's kofun period, when such structures served as tombs for the elite.
