Hohenwerfen Castle, or Festung Hohenwerfen, is a medieval rock castle on a 155-metre pillar above the Austrian market town of Werfen in the Salzach valley, about 40 kilometres south of Salzburg. Built by the Archbishops of Salzburg in the 11th century, it is a sister fortress to Hohensalzburg. It became internationally known as the main location of the film Where Eagles Dare.
