The Holstentor, built in 1464, is a Brick Gothic city gate that marks the western boundary of Lübeck's medieval old town in Germany. Characterized by two round towers and an arched entrance, it stands as one of only two surviving gates from the Hanseatic city's original fortifications, alongside the Citadel Gate. Constructed of brick in the distinctive style of northern European medieval architecture, the Holstentor has become an iconic symbol of Lübeck and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987 as part of the city's old center.
