Demolished or destroyed.
Holt Castle was a medieval castle on the Welsh–English border, beside the River Dee in the village of Holt, Wrexham County Borough, Wales. Work began in the 13th century during the Welsh Wars. Known in the medieval period as Castrum Leonis or Castle Lyons, after a lion carved above its main gate, the five-towered fortress was largely stripped of its stonework in the 17th century, leaving only its sandstone foundation and a small amount of masonry.
