The Holy Cross Church in Frankfurt-Bornheim stands as a landmark of modernist Catholic sacred architecture, completed in 1929 by architect Martin Weber. Built in steel frame and reinforced concrete on a rise in the Bornheimer Hang settlement, the church embodies New Objectivity principles and the avant-garde interwar church design movement. Conceived as part of the urban planning initiative *Neues Frankfurt* and the broader *Neues Bauen* movement, the church represents progressive modernism without strict Bauhaus affiliation, drawing stylistic parallels to the nearby Frauenfriedenskirche. Damaged during World War II, it was restored through community donations. Originally serving as a branch of St. Josef parish, the church later housed its own parish before becoming the meditation centre of the Diocese of Limburg from 2007 to 2025. Today recognized as a Kulturdenkmal, it remains a significant example of early-20th-century modernist religious architecture.
