Horben Castle is a château located in the municipality of Beinwil (Freiamt) in the canton of Aargau, Switzerland, perched at 818 meters elevation on the Horben-Hochebene near the Lucerne border. Built in 1700 by Abbot Placidus Zurlauben as a rest home for the sacristan, the structure evolved significantly over the eighteenth century. Between 1752 and 1776, under Abbot Bonaventure Bucher, the house and an adjacent Chapel of St. Wendelin and Ubaldus (erected in 1730 by Prince-Abbot Gerold Haimb) were rebuilt into their present form. The castle's interior was enriched in 1762 with rococo wall paintings and statues by artist Caspar Wolf. Following the dissolution of the monasteries in Aargau in 1841, it passed through private ownership before being comprehensively restored in 1979–80. The castle is designated a class A Swiss cultural property of national significance.
