House of the Black Madonna
Old Town, Czech Republic

Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
The House of the Black Madonna is a cubist commercial building in Prague's Old Town, designed by Josef Gočár and completed in 1912. It is the earliest example of cubist architecture in Prague. It takes its name from a baroque Black Madonna sculpture on its facade, a remnant of an earlier building on the site. The first floor houses the Grand Café Orient, and the four upper floors hold the Museum of Czech Cubism.
