Hrubý Rohozec is a castle in Turnov, Czech Republic, originating in the 14th century as a fortified outpost to guard the trade route below it. The complex began with a polygonal tower connected by defensive walls, and in the Gothic period Jan von Šelmberk and Konrad Kraiger Kraigk added palatial structures between its two sections. During the Renaissance, the Wartenberg family transformed it into a château, establishing its refined architectural character. The castle passed to Albrecht von Wallenstein in 1621 and subsequently to the Desfours family, who retained ownership until 1945. Following 1822, architect Jan F. Joendl oversaw substantial upgrades. Today it stands as a national cultural monument, with its library, dining room, bedroom, and blue room preserved with period furnishings and open to visitors.
