Humphry Marshall House
Pennsylvania, United States

Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
The Humphry Marshall House stands in Marshallton, an unincorporated village in West Bradford Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Built in 1773–74 in the Georgian style, it was the home of early American botanist Humphry Marshall (1722–1801), who established one of the first botanical gardens in what is now the United States on the property. Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1987, the house is privately owned, and though the gardens have declined since Marshall's time, their basic layout survives.
