Inverness Castle stands above the River Ness in Inverness, Highland, Scotland, in the Scottish baronial style. A succession of castles has occupied the site since 1057, but the present red sandstone structure was completed in 1836 to designs by William Burn and later extended by Thomas Brown II. Originally the sheriff court and administrative centre for Inverness-shire, it is a Category A listed building.
