The Mosaic Iwan is a monumental gateway structure built in the 3rd century CE as part of the ancient city of Bishapur, located in Kazerun County, Iran. Commissioned by Shapur I, the second king of the Sasanian Empire, the iwan exemplifies the architectural synthesis of Sasanian and Roman traditions that characterizes Bishapur's design. Registered on Iran's National Heritage List in 1931, it stands as one of the earliest such designations in the country. The structure is also recognized as part of the Bishapur ensemble on UNESCO's World Heritage List, reflecting its significance to both Persian and world architectural heritage.
