Manhattan, United States

Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
The James A. Burden House is a five-story Beaux-Arts townhouse at 7 East 91st Street in Manhattan's Carnegie Hill section, designed by Warren and Wetmore and completed in 1905 for iron entrepreneur James A. Burden Jr. and his wife Florence Sloane Burden. Its limestone facade is rusticated on the lower two stories and carries French-inspired detailing around the double-height third-story windows and balcony. A New York City landmark, it is owned by the Convent of the Sacred Heart, which has connected it internally to the adjacent Otto H. Kahn House.
