Jenderal Ahmad Yani International Airport serves Semarang, the capital of Central Java, Indonesia, roughly 6 km from the city centre. Built in 1966 in a modern architectural style, it was formerly known as Kalibanteng Airport. It is named after Ahmad Yani, an army general killed in the 30 September Movement of 1965 and posthumously recognised as a National Hero. The airport shares its site with Ahmad Yani Army Air Base.
