Spanning the Tunca River in Edirne, the Kanuni Bridge is an Ottoman structure built in 1554 by the renowned architect Mimar Sinan under the commission of Suleiman the Magnificent, from whom it derives its name—Kanuni, meaning "the Lawmaker." Also known as the Palace Bridge, it connects Edirne Palace to the city and measures 60 metres in length and 4.5 metres in width, supported by four arches characteristic of Ottoman bridge design.
