The Kartalab Khan Mosque, also known as the Begum Bazar Mosque, stands in the Old City of Dhaka as a brick structure built between 1700 and 1704 by Nawab Diwan Murshid Quli Khan. Designed in Mughal architectural style, the mosque features a raised platform supporting a main prayer hall with a distinctive 'dochala' (two-sloped) annex on its north side, while a 'Baoli' (stepped well) occupies the eastern portion of the platform. The structure is crowned by five domes resting on octagonal drums, characteristic of Mughal religious architecture. The mosque underwent extensive renovation in the nineteenth century by Mirza Golam Pir. In accordance with Murshid Quli Khan's wishes, he was interred beneath the mosque's entrance.
