Kastelholm Castle, known in Swedish as Kastelholms slott, is a medieval castle in the municipality of Sund on Åland, Finland, about 25 kilometres northeast of Mariehamn. Built by the Swedes in the late 14th century, it originally stood on a small island surrounded by water-filled moats and served both military and administrative functions. Damaged in 1599 and gutted by fire in 1745, it fell into ruin before being partially restored in the 20th century. Since the 1990s it has been a museum and a key cultural site in Åland.
