Kings Mountain National Military Park, established in 1931 near Blacksburg, South Carolina, along the North Carolina border, commemorates the Battle of Kings Mountain, a crucial American Patriot victory over Loyalist forces during the Revolutionary War's Southern Campaign. Built in the National Park Service rustic architectural style, the park preserves the site of a battle Thomas Jefferson deemed "The turn of the tide of success." It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
