Klenová Castle stands in southwest Bohemia near Klatovy, originally constructed in 1291 as part of the region's frontier defence system. The medieval castle fell into ruin between the 17th and 18th centuries but was substantially reconstructed in the Gothic Revival style between 1832 and 1838, when new château buildings were added alongside the surviving original ruins. The castle is notable as the birthplace of Kryštof Harant z Polžic a Bezdružic, a 16th-century nobleman, writer, and musician. Today it functions as an art gallery and is designated a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.
