The Kōbe Mosque stands in the Kitano-chō foreign district of Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. Founded in October 1935, it is Japan's first mosque. Czech architect Jan Josef Švagr designed it in a traditional Indo-Islamic style, and donations collected by the Islamic Committee of Kōbe from 1928 funded its construction. It survived air raids in 1945 and the Great Hanshin earthquake of 1995.
