Rising 108 metres above Kobe's waterfront, the Kobe Port Tower is a striking high-tech landmark completed in 1963. Designed by Takeo Naka, 伊藤紘一, and the firm Nikken Sekkei, the tower employs a distinctive hyperboloid steel structure that has made it an iconic symbol of the port city. As a sightseeing tower, it offers visitors panoramic views of Kobe harbour and its surroundings. The building's innovative engineering and architectural significance have earned it recognition as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. The tower has undergone major renovations since its completion, including extended closures in 2009–2010 and 2021–2024.
