Koldinghus is a Danish royal castle in the town of Kolding on the south central part of the Jutland peninsula, founded in the 13th century. It has served as a fortress, royal residence, ruin, and the site of numerous wartime negotiations, and today the restored castle houses a museum with collections of furniture, Roman and Gothic church culture, older Danish paintings, and ceramics and silver. The museum that manages it was established in 1890.
