The Notre-Dame du Kreisker chapel, situated in Saint-Pol-de-Léon in Brittany, is a Gothic masterwork begun in 1401 and completed across the 14th and 15th centuries on the site of an earlier sacred structure. Its soaring 78-metre tower—the highest in Brittany—rises 169 steps and served as a vital coastal navigational landmark. The chapel stands as a major testament to Breton religious architecture and reflects the town's economic prosperity during the 15th century. Recognizing its maritime importance, Napoleon ordered its restoration and preservation in 1807, saving it from destruction. Today it remains a classified historical monument.
