Kremenets Castle stands on a steep hill in the city of Kremenets, Ternopil Oblast, Ukraine. Built of limestone, its keep on the west side measured 65 metres wide and 135 metres long, and a tall stone wall encircled the whole elevation. Earlier, in the 13th century, wood was used as the building material instead. The castle was known as an impregnable citadel, attacked by Hungary, the Mongols, the Cossacks, and others.
