Lahore Fort is a Mughal citadel at the northern end of the Walled City of Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan, built largely of brick. Its foundations were laid in 1566 under Akbar in a syncretic style blending Islamic and Hindu motifs, and it was almost entirely rebuilt in the 17th century, when the Mughal Empire was at its zenith. Shah Jahan's additions feature marble inlaid with Persianate floral designs. The fort was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.
