Leicester Cathedral, formally the Cathedral Church of Saint Martin, is a Church of England cathedral in the City of Leicester, England, and the seat of the Bishop of Leicester. Built from 1086, it is one of the city centre's five surviving medieval churches and is a Grade II* listed Gothic building. It was made a collegiate church in 1922 and a cathedral in 1927, after the Diocese of Leicester was established in 1926. In 2015 it became the reburial place of King Richard III, whose remains were found nearby in the foundations of the lost Greyfriars chapel.
