Lille Cathedral, the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Treille, is a Roman Catholic minor basilica and the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Lille in northern France. Built in the Gothic Revival style and considered a national monument, it honours the Virgin Mary and takes its name from a 12th-century statue of her with reputed miraculous properties. Construction began in 1854 after an international competition, and the design was ultimately carried out by local architect Charles Leroy, with work proceeding in stages until its completion in 1999.
