Lincoln Elementary School in Manchester, Iowa exemplifies the Prairie School style through its design by Cedar Rapids architect Robert R. Mayberry, completed in 1916. The single-story structure employs brick and clay tile construction atop a concrete basement, characteristic of the period's functional aesthetic. The building has had a varied institutional history: closed in 1965, it reopened as a first-grade school two years later, served special education classes during the 1970s, and returned to general elementary use in the 1990s. The school was recognized for its architectural and historical significance when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.
