The Lincoln Memorial stands at the western end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Architect Henry Bacon designed this neoclassical temple, which was dedicated on May 30, 1922, to honor Abraham Lincoln. Doric columns surround a large interior statue by Daniel Chester French, carved in marble by the Piccirilli brothers. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech at the memorial in 1963.
