Ljubljana Castle is a stone castle complex on Castle Hill above downtown Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. Probably built in the 11th century and rebuilt in the 12th, it received its present outline in an almost complete 15th-century overhaul, with most of its buildings dating to the 16th and 17th centuries. From the first half of the 14th century it was the seat of the lords of Carniola, and today it is a major cultural venue. The castle also appears on the city's coat of arms, topped by a dragon.
