The Llotja de Barcelona, also called the Llotja de Mar, stands on Passeig d'Isabel II in the La Ribera neighbourhood of Barcelona. Its current 18th-century Neoclassical building conceals the medieval saló de Contractacions, a Gothic hall regarded as one of the finest civil Gothic buildings in the Mediterranean. Originally conceived as a place for merchants' transactions, it has served as a wheat store, a military barracks, and the seat of the Consulate of the Sea, and today houses the Cambra de Comerç. It is a Cultural Asset of National Interest.
