Loket Castle stands on a massive rock in the town of Loket, in the Karlovy Vary Region of the Czech Republic, surrounded on three sides by the Ohře river. First built in the Romanesque style in the 12th century, it was expanded in the Gothic style and took most of its current form during reconstruction in the 1390s. Known as "the Impregnable Castle of Bohemia" for its thick walls, it is one of the oldest stone castles in the country and is preserved today as a museum and national monument.
