Manila City Hall, in the historic center of Ermita, is the official seat of government of the City of Manila, where the Mayor holds office and the Manila City Council chambers are located. Built in 1941 in the Renaissance Revival style, it was originally meant to be part of a national government center envisioned by Daniel H. Burnham in the 1900s, a plan that was only partly realized.
