Maria Laach Abbey is a Benedictine abbey on the southwestern shore of the Laacher See in the Eifel region of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, and a member of the Beuronese Congregation. Built in the 11th and 12th centuries, it was originally known as Laach Abbey, meaning "Lake Abbey," until the Jesuits added the name "Maria" in 1862.
