Mariazell Basilica, also called the Basilica of the Birth of the Virgin Mary, is a Roman Catholic church in Mariazell, Austria, built in the Gothic style and dating from 1683. It is Austria's most important Christian pilgrimage destination and houses a venerated miraculous wooden image of the Virgin Mary. Pope Pius X raised it to minor basilica status in 1907, and it is the only church named a national shrine of all German-speaking countries.
