The Martha Cook Building is a Collegiate Gothic women's residence hall at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, designed by the architectural firm York and Sawyer and completed in 1915. Built of brick, it was the first dormitory on campus constructed specifically for female students. The building accommodates approximately 140 women pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees and is notable for allowing residents to remain through all years of study—a distinctive feature among the university's dormitory options. Now designated a Michigan State Historic Site, Martha Cook stands as a significant early example of gender-specific campus housing in American higher education.
