Medvedgrad is a medieval fortified town on the south slopes of Medvednica mountain, about 10 km north of Zagreb, Croatia. Built on Mali Plazur, a spur of the main ridge overlooking the city, it was dated to 1300 and demolished in 1700; its stone walls and high main tower are listed in the Register of Cultural Goods of Croatia. Beneath the tower stands the Altar of the Homeland, a memorial to Croatian soldiers killed in the Croatian War of Independence, made by sculptor Kuzma Kovačić and opened in 1994.
